Geneva & Interlaken

I spent one night in Geneva before visiting Zurich, to see a friend who recently moved there for work. I was struck by how clean the lake is there - I could see straight to the bottom. I didn't get a chance to see much of the city, but I was lucky enough to enjoy a beautiful summer sunset.

During my time in Zurich, we also took a day trip to Interlaken, a small town situated between two lakes and surrounded by the Swiss Alps. The scenery here is absolutely breathtaking. I had never seen a body of water this blue-green color and I couldn't stop staring. This town is known for their extreme sports...so we decided to go hang gliding! Our timing was perfect because the company cancelled all flights after ours due to irregular and dangerous winds. We were strapped onto a wing-like kite with a professional hang glider next to me. We wait for the right winds, then take a running start off a very high mountain and the wind just catches the kite as we soar above the mountains and the lake. It is an awesome feeling to soar and fly around. It was very peaceful up there, and I just took in my surroundings and just enjoyed the ride.

Jumping for joy that I can tell my mom I'm still alive!

Afterwards, we walked around the town, took in the view, and enjoyed some traditional rosti (hash browns in a skillet with various toppings) and chocolate fondue.
