I was lucky enough to spend the last four days with my lovely parents at the beautiful Cala di Volpe resort in Sardinia, Italy. I cannot rave enough about the water here. Located in a corner of the Mediterranean Sea, the waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea are crystal blue and so refreshing, we couldn't get enough. Our hotel is located on a little bay. We woke up every morning to a buffet breakfast by the pool, then took a five minute boat ride to the hotel's private beach and spent the majority of the day soaking up the sun and playing in the water. We did go out and explore the towns in the area a bit. Our favorite was Baia Sardinia. It is a piazza right on the water, with a small beach and tons of restaurants and shops. Some of the restaurants have live music at night, perfect to have a drink and relax. Specialties of the area include Pecorino cheese, a variety of hams and salamis, and some fruity liqueurs (mainly mirto - a blueberry based liqueur). We also sampled some local wines, our favorite being a red wine called Turriga. It is a blend of their local grapes and supposed to be one of the best wines in all of Italy.
We are already planning our next trip to this hotel. Everything was just perfect, including the service, the ambience, and the food.
Enjoy the pictures!
